Haredi visitors: We willl be pleased to see you and show you the synagogue. However, unfortunately we are not in a position to hold weekday services. Shabbat services are held every few weeks or so. There is no mikveh, nor is there a specifically kosher food outlet in the Southampton area. The nearest large Orthodox synagogues are in Bournemouth (about 30 miles to the west). There is also an Orthodox synagogue in Portsmouth (about 20 miles to the east).
Other Jewish visitors: If you are visiting the area, particularly if you are from from overseas or have historical links with Southampton, we would pleased to show you the synagogue and talk to you about Jewish life in the area. If you are going on a cruise starting from Southampton, do get in touch.
Jewish visitors in general: We may not have a service scheduled for the Shabbat you are visiting, but please contact us, preferably as long as possible in advance, and we will see what we can do.
Inter-communal relationships: Please note that we are a very small community and liaise closely with members of the South Hampshire Reform Jewish Community.
Schools in Hampshire: We run an outreach programme. This can involve school visits to the synagogue, or members of our outreach team visiting your school to talk about Judaism or Jewish themes. Please email the synagogue to discuss your requirements. Please give us as much notice as possible.
Other organisations: Occasionally officers in the synagogue talk to adult organisations on Jewish themes, and organised synagogue visits. Contact the synagogue if you are interested. This applies even if you are an individual. From time to time we organise tours of the synagogue for interested visitors.
