Fast starts: 7.02pm, Service 7.00pm.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Yom Kippur Thursday 16 September. Service begins at 10am.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Onward schedule: Yizkor &#8211;\u00a0\u00a0 12.45pm; Minchah &#8211; 4.50pm; \u00a0Neilah &#8211; 6.45pm\u00a0 (Fast ends at 8.01pm); \u00a0Maariv \u2013 8.02 pm.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Breaking the fast<\/strong><br \/>\nRather than provide a buffet, the rabbi is intending to bring some \u201cparty bags\u201d for distribution at the end of fast.<\/p>\n<p>Siddur: Artscroll. Enough copies in the shul to cope with expected (or even excessive!) \u00a0demand. By kind donation from Chabad, 2019.<\/p>\n<p><font size=\"4\"><strong>SUKKOT<\/strong><\/font><br \/>\nSunday 26 September, 5-7pm at the synagogue.<br \/>\nRabbi Zalman Lewis (Chabad South Eastern Universities), Faith Advisor to Southampton students, will be building a sukkah. All welcome. Bring your children (or in our case, great-grandchildren).<\/p>\n<p>__________________________________________________________________________________<\/p>\n<p><font size=\"4\"><strong>PARKING<\/strong> (Yom Kippur):<\/font><br \/>\n(of course, of course)<b> You should walk!\u00a0 <\/b><br \/>\nBut if you can\u2019t\u2026 (you live too far away, are infirm etc..)<br \/>\nEvenings: you can use the time-limited parking bays, which are inactive in the evenings. Do not use the residents\u2019 parking bays.<br \/>\nDaytimes: The 1 hour parking time limits in the parking bays in Liverpool Street, Methuen Street and Dover Street (adjacent to the synagogue) will be suspended. So in these streets, \u00a0it\u2019s as though it is evening. You don\u2019t have to nip out from the service to move your car.<\/p>\n<p>In either case, Please don\u2019t park in the Residents\u2019 bays (you would still get a ticket).<br \/>\nMany thanks to the City Council for granting us this concession.<\/p>\n<p><font size=\"4\"><strong>Visitors<\/strong><\/font><br \/>\nWorshippers from outside the area welcome, but please contact the Secretary (see &#8220;Contact&#8221; on this website) to notify us of your likely presence.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Public Health measures<\/strong><br \/>\n+ Do not come if you feel unwell and particularly if there is a chance that you will pass on some infection.<br \/>\n+ Do bring a mask (unless you are exempt).<br \/>\n+ Please test yourself for Covid using a lateral flow test before coming.<br \/>\n+ Hand sanitising materials available.<br \/>\n+ Siddurim will have been cleaned beforehand.<br \/>\n+ To the extent possible, windows will be open and ventilation maximised.<br \/>\n+ Breathing allowed but discouraged (please fill up with air beforehand).<br \/>\n__________________________________________________________________________________<br \/>\n<small>Unfortunately, for demographic reasons, we are no longer able to run regular Shabbat services. The nearest orthodox minyanim are in Portsmouth and Bournemouth. We do, however, run services on festvals, and from time to time when there is a visiting Rabbi.
